About The Record
Francois Houle (clarinets/laptop), Jesse Zubot (violin/electronics) and Jean Martin (percussionist/turntablist) have joined forces to create what is known as LaConner-the album includes highly engaging ad intricate works that incorporate electro-acoustics, improvisations, folk-inspired chamber-like melodies, samples and humorous dialogue. The result is a fascinating web of intriguing, relentless textural soundscapes that stay clear of the usual pitfalls of musique actuelle. Reviews
“Put François Houle’s clarinet, Jean Martin’s drums and Jesse Zubot’s violin through an electro-acoustic mix and what do you get? Heady, trippy, often fragile improvisational grooves. Engaging.” - Vancouver Province/Oct. 2004
“A collection of sonic landscapes that range from the sweet to the sinister.” Alex Varty/The Georgia Straight/Oct. 2004 |
